There are 600 known cases of missing or murdered Aboriginal women and girls in Canada.  These women represent 10% of the total number of female homicides in Canada, despite the fact that Aboriginal women make up only 3% of the total female. The purpose of this vigil is to honour and raise public awareness about missing and murdered Aboriginal women with a goal of one day ending violence against all women.
