Fundraisers for Scholarships & Awards

From the beginning, our club was very enthusiastic about raising funds for an award to commemorate the 100th anniversary of CFUW. We collected over $15,000 in about a year, much more quickly than anticipated.

Our members have a strong commitment to supporting scholarship, and were generous in this endeavour, both in time and monetary contributions.  In addition to individual donations, club members privately hosted fundraising teas and luncheons in their homes. The Cycling and  Exploring Music interest groups and several Bridge groups  made cash donations; the Gardening group auctioned Christmas wreaths;  and the Scribblers group wrote, published and sold a wonderful collection of their own short stories.  The parties were fun, the wreaths were beautiful, and the book was a bestseller. We’re so proud of our generous, creative and hardworking members!

CFUW Guelph 2015 Quilt Raffle

At our May 2015 AGM, to celebrate our 70th Anniversary, we launched our first fundraising raffle. CFUW Guelph’s own Textile Arts Group generously donated two handmade quilts that were raffled in support of our Scholarships and Awards Trust Fund. Thanks to members Barbara Kuczynski and JoAnne Oldridge, tickets were sold at events in the region, and at our November General Meeting, the draw was made.

When all expenses were paid, we were thrilled to transfer a total of $2945.45 to the Scholarships and Award Trust Fund. Well done, everyone!
