CFUW Guelph Land Acknowledgement Statement

For thousands of years indigenous peoples inhabited and were stewards of this land. Guelph is situated on the ancestral homelands of the Anishinabeek peoples specifically on the traditional territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit. This land is within the Between the Lakes Purchase No. 3 Treaty (1792).

Today, Guelph is home to many First Nations, Inuit and Metis people and as CFUW Guelph members we recognize their perseverance and survival through many hardships. We endeavour to address the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action to honour Indigenous peoples’ historical and contemporary contributions to Canada.

We are grateful to have the opportunity to further develop our relationships with each other and the land we live on.
