CFUW Guelph Graduate Scholarship in Nutritional Sciences winner, Kaitlin Roke is a PhD student in the department of Human Health and Nutrition. She is involved with several research projects to determine the health effects of omega-3 fats, as well as to examine whether we respond differently to fish oil supplements based on our genetics.
CFUW Guelph Undergraduate Scholarship winner, Fatimah Eashour –the female student with the highest cumulative average in semester 4 or 5 in the College of Physical & Engineering Science – has just finished her third year of the Biological and Medical Physics program at the University of Guelph. She came to Canada from Saudi Arabia when she was 18 to earn a bachelor’s degree, planning to pursue higher education in a field where she can be of service to people, to experience the pleasure of working with living systems, and to apply advanced technology to complex problems of medical care. This summer she has a summer radiology fellowship at the University of Vermont Medical Center, awarded by the American Association of Physicists in Medicine. Fatimah hopes her degree and fellowship will prepare her for continuing studies in medical physics.
