CFUW Guelph receives Ontario Council Recognition Award for International Women’s Day Project
In May of 2020, the Canadian Federation of University Women (CFUW) Guelph Chapter was awarded with the Ontario Council of CFUW Recognition Award. This award acknowledges significant projects or activities undertaken by CFUW Ontario clubs that support the advancement of women, human rights and the common good locally, nationally, and internationally. This award recognized their work to highlight International Women’s Day alongside Guelph-Wellington Women in Crisis, Zonta Guelph, and the University of Guelph. The 2020 iteration of this long-standing partnership was designed to highlight the feminist movement in Canada by showcasing significant achievements in women’s rights in Canada over the past 100 years.
Researchers created a series of posters which were displayed at the 2020 International Women’s Day Event in Guelph and which will also be featured at future community events at the Guelph Civic Museum and the Guelph Public Library. Each poster highlights an historical achievement in women’s rights in Canada over the past 100 years.
