Sarah Hood, Professor, George Brown College

“Foraging to Food Blogging: A cook’s tour of Canadian food history”

Sarah Hood is a writer with a strong interest in social history. ​She  is working on a book titled “Jam, Jelly and Marmalade: A Global  History” for Reaktion Books in the UK. Her cookbook, “We Sure Can! How  jams and pickles are reviving the lure and lore of local food”, was shortlisted for Taste Canada—The Food Writing Awards. A board member of the Culinary Historians of Canada, she researched historic recipes  for the television series “Back in Time for Dinner”, broadcast on CBC  in the summer of 2018. She teaches courses on writing, design and history of costume in the Centre for Arts, Design and Information  Technology at Toronto’s George Brown College, and volunteers as a historic cook at City of Toronto historic sites.
