February 2019 General Meeting
February 26 @ 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm
For our February, 2019 General Meeting, we had planned to host a speaker who could address issues related to the upcoming draft resolutions from CFUW National. However, this year, there are no proposed resolutions to discuss! This gives us a wonderful opportunity to instead focus on issues of importance to the club – ssues that impact the lives of women and girls in Canada, and that must be at the forefront of the federal election.
On February 26 we will start by giving a brief overview of the issues raised by National, followed by breakout groups to discuss and illuminate our club’s perspective on a few of the key issues. Suggested topics could include the economy, foreign relations, electoral reform, climate change, and maintenance of the social safety net. We will pass on the results of this interactive event to CFUW National, who, along with feedback from other clubs, will choose the top 5-8 topics and create updated backgrounders and talking points for each issue. We will then be able to draw from this information when we meet candidates at the door, or at town-halls and All Candidates’ Forums.
Come out and continue CFUW Guelph’s record of leadership in political advocacy, and help determine the most pressing concerns for the upcoming federal election.
